WHAT IS A MKIV SUPRA?
The MKIV (mark four) Supra is the fourth model generation of Toyota's Supra. It has an inline 6 cylinder 3 litre dohc 24 valve motor (2JZGTE) with twin sequential turbos rated at 320hp for the export model (outside japan) and 280hp for the japanese domestic market model. It is suspected that the export model at least is slightly underrated in this aspect.

CARS CAN'T BEAT BIKES CAN THEY?
Actually, yes. Bikes have a nasty coefficient of drag, typically around .5-.6, vs around .32 for a typical modern car. Even though cars weigh substantially more than bikes, the importance of aerodynamic drag at high speed becomes much more a factor than weight. A car needs a big chunk of horsepower to beat a bike, but it can be done, especially at highway speeds and up.

SO THIS IS JUST ANOTHER IMPORT?
The MKIV Supra is far from just another import. Name one other car that can produce in excess of 900hp on factory engine internals! Toyota's attention to detail and philosophy of extraordinary over-engineering for the Supra's 2JZGTE engine makes this possible. Several Supras have trap speeds in excess of 140mph in the quarter mile, on unopened engines. This is a completely alien concept to the old school aspirated v8 brigade.

ARE MARK3 SUPRAS WELCOME TO JOIN TO4R.COM?
iNew requirements are still being discussed, but the plan is to open membership up to Toyota and Lexus cars with a 2JZ engine (GE or GTE).
Yes and no; we would like to focus on the 2JZ-GTE engine even though we have alot of respect for the 7M-GTE. If you have a mk3 Supra with a 2JZ-GTE transplant, meet the hp requirements and have extraordinary build quality you will be eligible for membership. We are always interested in engine build-up projects so let us know what you are doing.
